Amazing Patrouille Suisse Aerobatic Team
The Patrouille Suisse is the official aerobatic patrol of the Swiss Air Force . As a prestigious ambassador, the patrol makes aerial demonstrations in Switzerland and abroad.
Created on August 22 , 1964for the National Exhibition , the Patrouille Suisse was initially equipped with four Hawker Hunter Mk. 58s. After 30 years of loyalty to this British aircraft, training entered a new aeronautical dimension in 1994 with a faster and more maneuverable successor, the American F-5E Tiger II fighter . The pilots mastered the transition perfectly in 1995. The planes, now decked out in a red and white livery, continue to arouse great enthusiasm from the crowds in Switzerland and abroad. The first season of the F-5 ended in apotheosis with two presentations at the Axalp (de) , on the occasion of the shooting demonstrations. The current formation consists of six aircraft. The Federal Council has announced that the Patrouille Suisse will have to continue its activity on the F/A-18 when the Tiger II

The Swiss Air Force (German: Schweizer Luftwaffe; French: Forces aériennes suisses; is the air component of the Swiss Armed Forces, established on 31 July 1914 as a part of the army and in October 1936 as an independent service. In peacetime, Dübendorf is the operational air force headquarters. The Swiss Air Force operates from several fixed bases (see current status) but its personnel are also trained to carry out air operations from temporary highway airstrips.
